What is the basic computer knowledge that everyone should know ?

Every one has different level of computer knowledg. And believe me, each one of them requires different level of Basic Computer knowledge. So, according to your level, you can choose the basic knowledge from the following. Though it is not necessary to follow the sequence. How to start and shut down computer is as simple as switching on and off a fan, at least for those who are here to know the answer of the above question. If you don't know, than : Switching computer on and off is the basic computer knowledge for you to acquire first. Starting software and closing software. Basic file functions like saving, opening, closing. File and folder/directory concept. File Manager. Attaching and detecting different peripherals. If you already know above mentioned points and you use computer just for gaming, watching family photos, movies etc… than consider the following basic knowledge. Learn some basic software like-Office Excel, Word. Internet browser for surfing. Mailing software. Communication software like Skype. Learn to print and scan. Basic computer settings like setting date and time, password etc. Maintaining computer. Defragmentation, format, clearing junk files etc. Installation and uninstalling software. If you know above mentioned points. Than consider the following basic knowledge : Programming and web development. It sounds like advance skill but I have seen doctors and teachers develop simple applications for their clinic and class respectively. As we use different types of information to communicate, we should know some photo and audio-video editing tools. e.g. gimp, audacity, openshot etc. Learn basic networking concepts. Hardware troubleshooting. Attaching detaching RAM, HARDDISK, SSD etc. Storing and retrieving files from cloud. The concept of Open Source software. So far I know, for every proprietary software there is an equivalent Open Source software. At last…even if you know every thing… Be curious to get Basic Knowledge of new technology, like IOT, AI, 3D Printing, GPT 3, block chain etc. When I talk about new technology, my students listen it like an interesting story.
